Two killed in suicide bomb attack near Somalia’s Mogadishu port

Three people ere killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the gate of a restaurant near the port of Somalia’s capital, Mogadishu.

Somalia Police Spokesperson Sadiq Sadiq Adan Ali said that three people, including the suicide bomber and two guards were killed while two civilians were wounded when the suicide bomber tried to forcefully enter a busy restaurant near the Mogadishu port, known as Lul Yemeny Restaurant.

The police official added that the guards prevented him from entering before he blew himself up at the restaurant’s gate, killing himself and two guards.

The Somali capital has been relatively peaceful in recent weeks with no major security incidents reported with local government officials attributing the improved security to the vigilance of security forces and the may roadblocks set up on many roads in the city.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but the Al-Qaeda-linked group, Al-Shabaab, has in the past carried out similar attacks in Mogadishu.
