Two killed in blast targeting Somali official in Mogadishu

Two civilians were killed and several others, including civilians and security guards, were wounded after a roadside bomb exploded at KM-4 Junction in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, tonight.

The blast reportedly targeted the director of Somalia’s Nationality and Immigration Department, Mohamed Adan Kofi, whose convoy was passing the road when the blast went off.

Reports indicate that Kofi survived the explosion as he was in a bulletproof armoured vehicle, however, two civilians were killed and several others, including Kofi’s security guards were wounded by the blast.

Security forces have surrounded the crime scene and closed the roads leading to KM-4 Junction.

The Somali government is yet to comment on the incident.
