Somalia’s Jubbaland president arrives in Garowe for talks with Puntland counterpart

Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam aka Ahmed Madobe has arrived in the Puntland state capital, Garowe.

Madobe and his delegation were warmly received at the airport by his Puntland regional state president Said Abdullahi Deni and some members of his cabinet.

The two leaders are expected to discuss the 2020/2021 election and the recent agreement reached in Dusamareb between the federal government and the regional states of Galmudug, Hirshabelle and South West, in addition to the Banadir region. The leaders agreed on the model to be used for the upcoming elections in the country.

Ahmed Madobe and Said Deni had boycotted the Dusamareb 3 meeting and rejected the agreement reached between the federal government and the three regional states as well as Banadir region.

However, the two leaders are under pressure by the international community to accept the outcome of the Dusamareb 3 agreement.
