Traditional elders representing various clans have selected members of the second parliament of Hirshabelle regional state.
The list of the new MPs was announced on Tuesday night in the state capital, Jowhar, by a committee tasked with managing the exercise.
However, some clans have cried foul, saying the exercise was hijacked by the federal government.
The Hirshabelle state president, Mohamed Abdi Waare, had also previously questioned the legitimacy of the committee tasked with the election.
Somalia is preparing for parliamentary and presidential elections which are scheduled to be held between November 2020 to February 2021.
