Somalia announces third confirmed Covid-19 case

Health Minister Fowsiyo Abikar Nur has announced that a third patient has tested positive for Covid-19.

The minister said on National TV that a foreign national in Mogadishu’s Halane Centre, home to diplomats, foreign dignitaries and the African Union Mission in Somalia, was found to be suffering of Covid-19.

The health ministry received the information yesterday.

The person is now being quarantined at the centre.

Yesterday, the government announced the second case of Covid-19. The first was confirmed on 16 March.

Just a few days ago, Somalia received testing kits from China, which had distributed essential test kits among many African countries as world battles the deadly and highly infectious disease.
