Somali president, Somaliland leader reportedly hold talks in Ethiopia

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and the leader of the self-declared Republic of Somaliland Musa Bihi Abdi have held talks in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

The talks were reportedly brokered by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

If confirmed, the meeting would be the first meeting between the two officials.

Somaliland President Bihi and a delegation he was leading arrived in Addis Ababa on Sunday evening for an undisclosed visit to Ethiopia.

He was welcomed at Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport by Ethiopian State Minister for Foreign Affairs Aklilu Hailemichael.

For his part, President Farmajo was in the Ethiopian capital to attend the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union which concluded on Monday.
