Somali army says kills two Al-Shabaab fighters in southwest clashes

The Somali National Army has announced that it killed two fighters from the militant group Al-Shabaab in Awdinle area, some 30 kilometres from the southwestern town of Baidoa.

The commander of SNA’s 60th Division, Brig Gen Mohamed Sheikh Abdullahi, said that the army also captured an unspecified number of Al-Shabaab members in the pre-planned operation which he said was aimed at removing Al-Shabaab from the region.

However, other reports have indicated that the Al-Qaeda-linked group had attacked an army base in the area.
