Senior Somali police officer ‘in critical condition’ after blast in Mogadishu

An improvised explosive device targeted a Somali police officer in Hamar Jajab district in the capital, Mogadishu, on Monday.

The explosive device was planted in the officer’s car while he was refuelling at a petrol station in the area.

The senior police officer, identified as Mohamed Dore, was immediately rushed to a hospital in the town.

Witnesses in the area indicated that the police officer bled a lot and was in a critical condition.

Security forces arrived at the scene of the attack and immediately began conducting an investigation.
