Protesters in Somalia condemn French leader over anti-Islam remarks

Hundreds of protesters rallied in several cities in Somalia to condemn French President Emanual Macron’s anti-Islam remarks.

The protesters marched through the main roads in the capital, Mogadishu, and in the central town of Galkayo, burning the French flag and pictures of Macron.

Similar protests occurred yesterday in the northern town of Burao, in the breakaway region of Somaliland.

Meanwhile, Somali religious scholars have supported the campaign to boycott French products which has been launched in several countries in the Muslim world.

The religious scholars also called on the Somali federal government to sever ties with France.
