More than five people killed in separate Mogadishu, Baidoa explosions

The Somalia-based Al-Shabaab militant group has claimed responsibility for two explosions that separately happened in the capital Mogadishu and in the South West State capital Baidoa.

According to a statement from the militant group published on Al-Shabaab propaganda websites, two members of the government forces were killed while eight others were wounded after a vehicle filled with explosives was detonated near the port of Mogadishu.

Other reports say the attack targeted officers from the Ministry of Finance’s department of inland taxation.

In Baidoa, a bomb planted inside a restaurant exploded, killing five people including women and wounding six others. Al-Shabab claimed the attack killed four soldiers.
