Mogadishu blast targets Somali police spokesman

The spokesman of the Somali police Sadiq Aden Ali Dodishe has strongly condemned last night’s bomb blast in Mogadishu.

A statement issued by the spokesman said that the explosion, which took place in Waberi district of Banadir region, was targeted at his car, but that he was not in it at the time of the explosion.

The police spokesman said that his car was not damaged in the blast, but that he was among the civilians and vehicles that were passing by at the time of the blast.

“Thank God no one was hurt in my car. Some passers-by were hurt, and we pray to God to heal their wounds. The terrorists cannot intimidate us. We have already dedicated ourselves to the service of the nation,” said the spokesman.

One woman was killed and several others were injured in the blast.

No group has yet claimed responsibility, but militant group Al-Shabaab has been carrying out similar attacks in the city.
