Assailants believed to be Al-Shabaab members shot and killed a government tax collector in Siinay Market in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on Monday morning.
A local resident in the area confirmed to Somaliaffairs News Desk that Somali security forces in Mogadishu’s Warta Nabadda district managed to nab an Al-Shabaab member involved in the attack while two other suspects escaped from crime scene.
Security forces who reached the scene of the attack are reportedly now conducting a manhunt operation to arrest the two suspects who fled into the market, according to an eyewitness.
Tax collectors in the Somali capital have been increasingly targeted by Al-Shabaab militants.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack but authorities have in the past blamed Al-Shabaab militants for such attacks.
