Ex-Somali PM, former parliament speaker hold talks in Mogadishu

Former Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre and ex-Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari, have held talks in the former’s residence in the capital, Mogadishu.

The two leaders’meeting, which reportedly took hours, discussed the country’s political situation, especially the transition process and the upcoming 2020/2021 elections.

The former prime minister, Kheyre, announced his candidature for the presidency in the upcoming polls a few days ago and has since embarked on meetings with political leaders in the country in a bid to boost his chances of ousting President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, with whom he had fallen out since his sudden ouster by parliament almost two months ago.
