Election talks in Dusamareb still deadlocked

Federal government and regional state leaders in Dusamareb are still at an impasse over the model of the 2020/21 elections, source have told Somali Affairs.

President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo is still insisting on one man one vote while regional state leaders say such an election process was not realistic, our sources say.

However, the two sides have reportedly agreed that the election must take place on time and without any delays.
Reports also say the leaders are expected to issue a press statement as early as this evening.

Separate meetings have been taking place since yesterday to try and save discussions from collapsing.
