Deadly suicide attack kills at least six people in Somalia’s Mogadishu

At least six people have been killed and eight others were wounded after militant group Al-Shabaab targeted a restaurant near the General Kahiye Police Academy in Mogadishu with a suicide blast earlier today.

The casualty figures were provided by the spokesman of Somalia’s police force, Sadiq Adan Ali, who spoke to reporters in Mogadishu.

Al-Shabaab, which claimed responsibility for the attack, said at least 12 police officers were killed and more were wounded in the suicide attack.

A statement shared by several of the militant group’s propaganda website described the attack as “an operation of martyrdom”.
