Chaos as angry taxi drives protest in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU— Somalia’s capital city reigned chaos and destruction after taxi drivers took to the streets demonstrations today.

The protest arose after the killing of an auto rickshaw driver and his uncle in Mogadishu.  The two were brutally killed by Somali police officer according to reports from residents and taxi drivers.

Angry protesters have gone to the streets to condemn the killing of the auto rickshaw driver. Roads were blocked and tires set ablaze pausing activities in the capital.

Most of the angry mob asked the Somali government top leaders to step down if they can’t safeguard the security of the citizens especially in Mogadishu.

It is not the first time a police officer has killed a taxi driver in Mogadishu. A youthful auto rickshaw driver was killed by a police officer at Waberi locations in Banaadir region at the beginning of this month.
