Al-Shabaab suspects handed life sentences by Somali military courts

A military court in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, has sentences two men to life in prison for their role in an attack in an army base near Mogadishu in 2019.

Hassan Abdi Adan and Omar Hussein Abshir were wounded in an attack on a Somali National Army base in Daynile district, on the outskirts of Mogadishu.

The two reportedly operated between Bal’ad town and Basra village where Hassan was Al-Shabaab’s finance officer in Bal’ad while Omar was his driver.

Meanhile, another military court in the semi-autonomous region of Puntland jailed two other men for life after they were found guilty of belonging to the Al-Qaeda-linked group, Al-Shabaab.
