Al-Shabaab official surrenders to government forces in southwest Somalia

A senior Al-Shabaab member has surrendered to Somali security forces in Hudur town, Bakool region in the South West state of Somalia.

The defected official nicknamed Seyfullah said he has renounced terrorism and pleaded for forgiveness. He dded that he was ready to fight against his former group, Al-Shabaab.

Yarow Hassan Adan added that Al-Shabaab was just there to destroy the Somali nation and kill innocent people.

Yarow narrated how he fought in many regions of Somalia as a member of Al-Shabaab. He said that his main role was to coordinate the group’s senior members and their soldiers.

Yarow’s defection adds to a list of several senior Al-Shabaab officials who have surrendered to the government in recent years.
