CCTV cameras installed on roads in Somali capital to boost security

Reports from the Somali capital, Mogadishu, say that the security authorities have installed CCTV cameras in the main roads in the city in a bid to fight crime and terrorist activities.

The reports indicate that the CCTV cameras have been installed on the roads around areas where government ministries are located including Makka Al Mukarrama road, the Banadir roundabout and around the headquarters of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).

Security has recently improved in Mogadishu as no major insecurity incidents happened in the last few weeks.

Mogadishu has in the past suffered from deadly bomb attacks targeting government buildings and major hotels, claimed mainly by the Al-Qaeda-linked militant group, Al-Shabaab.
